How it works
Product of the Year follows five easy steps:
Stage 1: You submit your product
Entry is open to retail products launched in India over the past 24 months – they just need to demonstrate a level of innovation. The fee to enter is Rs. 4,00,000 (Rupees four lakhs only) per product.
NB : Products are entered for the whole process and cannot withdraw at any stage once entered.
Products of the type typically sold and widely available in supermarkets, grocers, pharmacies and other similar retail stores may be entered by You into the Programme (Products) Example of Products, without limitation, include Drinks, Groceries (including but not limited to snacks/dairy/bakery/food/confectionary/Ready to Eat and Ready to Cook (this would include soups, packed food , canned food etc), Functional Foods, Household cleaning , Utensil Cleaning, Hygeine Products, Body Care, Skin Care, Face Care, Male Grooming, Hair Care , Make Up, Colour Cosmetics, OTC pharmaceutical, Air freshener, Insect Repellants, Laundry (detergents/softeners/stain removal etc), Baby, Oral Care, Health (and Nutritional Supplements), DIY, Stationery, Electrical and appliances, communication products (including but not limited to super phones, premium phones, youth phones, value phones and services), financial products (including but not limited to credit, debit and cash cards), travel products and others.

Stage 2: Our jury selects the finalists
Once all products have been submitted, our jury meets to filter the entries for validation and draws up the finalists in each category. Our jury comprises industry leaders and experts from various fields, including manufacturing, marketing and journalism. Once validated by this jury, the eligible products move to the next important stage of the consumer voting process and you get a copy of the insightful national research valued by our research partners at over Rs. 10,00,000 (Rupees ten lakhs only). If your product is eliminated by the Jury, the entry fees of Rs. 4,00,000 (Rupees four lakhs only) is refunded to you.

Stage 3: The public chooses the winners
Now it’s the turn of the consumers – and they will determine the ultimate winners. In the largest ever independent survey of its kind in India, the eminent Independent Research Agency, Nielsen, appointed by the organisers collates responses through questionnaires across the country asking for their vote on the products selected by our jury. The consumers select only one winner in each category. If you win in your category, there is a further fee of Rs. 15,00,000 (Rupees fifteen lakhs only). This is for the licence to use the logo on all communications for a year. (Refer terms & conditions)

Stage 4: Product of the Year Awards Night
This is the big event – when hundreds of guests gather to find out which products the public have voted the winners in each category.

Stage 5: The winners promote their awards
For the next 12 months post the official announcement, manufacturers of the winning products can use the Product of the Year logo on their packaging, promotions and advertising. The stand-out red ‘stamp’ is recognised internationally as a sign of quality by consumers throughout the global Product of the Year markets. The Indian consumer will, for the first time, enjoy the confidence vote of thousands of consumers to help select the best innovations. The products too enjoy the advantage of high awareness and high visibility which should lead to increased trials and sales!
